Privacy Policy

What we collect when you search, book, inspect, or list a hostel — and how we look after it.

Last updated 27 August 2026

1. Who this covers

This policy explains how MyOffcampus handles personal data for students, parents or guardians named as emergency contacts, hostel operators, and anyone who writes to us. We operate a student off-campus housing marketplace in Nigeria. For questions about your data, email support@myoffcampusng.com or use our contact page.

2. Data we collect

Account data. Name, email, phone number, password (stored hashed), and role (student, partner, or admin). Students may also provide school, matric number, and emergency contact name, relationship, phone, and optional email.

Listings and operations. Hostel addresses, photos, room types, prices, availability, inspection notes, reservation and booking records, and partner payout details needed to run the marketplace.

Payments. We do not store full card numbers. Students transfer rent to the operator's bank account and upload a receipt. We keep amounts, status, proof images, and references so we can show your dashboard and collect platform commission.

Messages and support. Content you send through contact forms, waitlist sign-up, or email, plus technical logs such as IP address and device data needed to keep the service secure.

3. How we use it

We use personal data to create and secure accounts, show relevant hostels, schedule inspections, process reservations and rent, communicate about bookings, pay partners, improve the product, and meet Nigerian legal obligations. We send transactional email (for example password reset or waitlist confirmation) when you take those actions. We do not sell your data.

4. Who we share it with

We share what is needed to complete a booking or listing: operators see student details required to honour a reservation; students see listing and operator information on the hostel page. Service providers process data on our instructions — currently including hosting and database (for example Neon), email delivery (Resend), object storage for photos and payment proofs. We may share data if Nigerian law requires it, or to protect users from fraud or harm.

5. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and related rules, you can ask to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold, or object to certain processing, subject to records we must keep for bookings, payments, and disputes. Send requests to support@myoffcampusng.com. We may need to verify it is you before we change or remove account data.

6. Retention and security

We keep account and booking records for as long as you have an account and for a reasonable period afterwards where we need them for refunds, operator payouts, or legal claims. Waitlist and support messages are kept only as long as they are useful for that purpose. We use access controls, encrypted connections, and hashed passwords. No online service is perfectly secure; tell us quickly if you think your account was misused.

7. Cookies and similar technology

We use cookies and similar storage needed to keep you signed in, remember session state, and run the site. Essential cookies are required for login and bookings. You can block non-essential cookies in your browser; the marketplace may not work correctly if essential cookies are disabled.

8. Children and students

MyOffcampus is built for university students and hostel operators. We do not knowingly create accounts for children who are not old enough to contract for housing under Nigerian law. Parents or guardians may appear as emergency contacts or join inspections with the student's knowledge.

9. Changes

We will update this policy when our product or the law changes. The date at the top is the current version. Material changes will be reflected here; continued use after an update means the new policy applies to later activity.
