1. Who we are
MyOffcampus is a Nigerian marketplace that helps students and families find verified off-campus hostels near universities such as Nile University and Baze University, and helps hostel operators list and manage those rooms. These terms apply when you browse listings, create an account, request an inspection, reserve a room, complete a booking, or list a property as a partner.
We are a platform. Hostel operators remain responsible for their buildings, rooms, and the tenancy they offer. We do not own the hostels on the marketplace unless we say so on a specific listing.
2. Accounts
Students and partners create separate accounts. You must give accurate details, keep your password private, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. Students may be asked for a school, matric number, and emergency contact so we can support bookings and safety follow-up. Partners must have authority to list the hostel they submit.
We may suspend or close an account that is misleading, abusive, or used to circumvent these terms.
3. Listings and verification
Partners submit hostel details, photos, room types, pricing, and availability. Our local agents may visit a property to check access, utilities, security, and to capture photos. Verification is a snapshot: it reduces the risk of fake listings, it does not guarantee that every future stay will match the day we inspected.
Listing content must be honest. Do not advertise rooms you cannot offer, hide known safety issues, or reuse photos from another property. We may refuse, edit, or take down a listing that fails verification or later proves inaccurate.
4. Inspections
Students (and parents or guardians) can request a physical walkthrough or a live video inspection from a listing. An inspection is a viewing, not a booking. Slots depend on agent and operator availability. You still decide whether to reserve or pay after you have seen the room.
5. Reservations and bookings
A reservation holds a specific room for a stated hold period while you complete rent and any remaining steps. The hold period, reservation fee, and what happens if you miss the deadline are shown at checkout and in your booking dashboard. If you do not complete payment in time, the hold ends and the room can go back on the market.
A completed booking is an agreement between you and the hostel operator for that room, on the dates and terms shown in the listing and checkout. House rules, move-in dates, and what is included in rent come from the operator. Read them before you pay.
6. Payments, fees, and refunds
Students pay hostel operators directly by bank transfer and upload payment proof for the operator to confirm. MyOffcampus may collect a reservation fee and a platform commission. Commission, reservation fees, and any non-refundable amounts are disclosed before you pay.
Refunds, forfeits, and owner payouts follow the status of the reservation or booking (for example, a missed payment window, a cancelled hold, or a room that cannot be delivered). Approved refunds go back to the original payment method. Bank timelines are outside our control. If a listing is unavailable after you pay, contact us through Contact and we will work with the operator on a refund or alternative.
7. Partners and hostel operators
Partners agree to keep availability, rent, and amenities up to date, honour confirmed reservations, and treat students fairly at move-in. Commission and payout terms are agreed during onboarding and shown in the partner dashboard. We may withhold or reverse payouts if a booking cannot be fulfilled or a student reports they could not move in.
You must comply with Nigerian housing, tax, and consumer rules that apply to your property. Listing on MyOffcampus does not make us your landlord, agent, or insurer.
8. Acceptable use
Do not scrape the marketplace, post malware, harass other users, or use MyOffcampus to collect fees off-platform in a way that avoids disclosed charges or student protections. Do not create fake student or partner accounts. We may remove content and restrict access if you do.
9. Disclaimers
We work to keep listings accurate and payments secure, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free search results, or that every operator will perform perfectly. To the extent Nigerian law allows, we are not liable for disputes between students and operators that arise from the tenancy itself, including damage deposits held by the hostel, except where we failed to provide the platform service we sold.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top of this page is the latest version. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms for later activity. For questions, use our contact page or email support@myoffcampusng.com.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
